 Disco 붐이 일었던 70년대 후반, 존 트래볼타의 불량스런? 몸놀림에 세계의 젊은이들이 빠져 들었다. 디스코리듬의 흥겨움에 내로라하는 아티스트들이 함께 하면서 디스코전성기가 시작된다. 흑인들의 끈적끈적한 소울음악도 디스코를 받아들이면서 그 흥겨움을 더하게 된다.

 세월은 흘러 이런 리듬은 촌스런 음악이 되었다. 하지만, 아직도 디스코 템포의 곡들이 꾸준히 발표되고 있어 예의 그 촌스러움이 낯설지만은 않다. 박진영과 원더걸스의 노래들가운데 디스코리듬의 곡들은 반갑기도 하다. 이젠 디스코리듬의 곡들을 복고풍이라고 말한다. 건들거리면서 디스코를 추었던 70, 80 세대들이 겪었던 문화트렌드, 디스코음악을 들을 때마다 여전히 그 매력에 빠진다.
