핑크 플로이드 명작 앨범 The dark side of the moon에 수록.
가사없는 인간의 목소리로 메시지를 전달한다.
말하지 않고서 인간의 마음을 이렇게 처연하게 표현할 수 있음에 감탄한다.

물질만능주의에 빠진 현대문명을 비판하는 Money를 비롯, 실험정신에 가득찬 음악들로 채워진 이 음반은 오래도록 빌보드챠트에서 사라지지 않았다.


 1973년부터 1988년까지 무려 741주 동안 빌보드 앨범챠트 톱 200 안에 있었다니 놀라운 기록이다. 
앨범에 담긴 곡들은 각종매체의 효과음이나 배경음악으로 사용해서 귀에 익은 소리들이다.
핑크플로이드 음악의 주제는 사회적인 메시지이다. 그런 주제를 전위예술로 표현한다. 
그렇다고 대중과 동떨어진 음악을 하지 않는다. 
음반이 많이 팔려 돈도 벌지만 메시지를 잃지 않으며 대중음악의 영역을 넓혀간다. 
Pink Floyd는 '프로그레시브 롹'이란 이런 거다를 들려준다.
동영상을 보고서 이 음악이 어떤 메시지를 주려 했던가를 알게 된다..

 

1984년이었을 거다.  광주시내에 널려있던 음악다방과 음악감상실.
충장로의 타임이란 카페에서 어두침침한 분위기에서 흘러나오던 음악.
 그땐 서로 얘기하기 힘들 정도로 음악소리를 빵빵하게 틀어댔었다.
